Guthrie Trapp plays electric guitar, acoustic guitar and mandolin with Patty Loveless. He has been in her band for 2 years now. Guthrie's grandmother passed away a few weeks ago. His grandmother loved music and the fact that Guthrie's Dad and Uncle's had passed their love of music and talents down to Guthrie. The Trapp family, who I have spent some time with and love very much, decided in lieu of flowers for the funeral they wanted to do something else. After talking with Jimmy Johnson, from Patty's band as well, they came up with this most generous idea of starting a scholarship fund in Helen Trapp's honor to help kids take lessons and buy instruments who may not be able to afford to do so. The Trapp's have been very supportive of The Main Stage and helping pass along the passion and love of music.
We have set this fund up and anyone who wishes to help can do so by sending donations made payable to Helen Trapp Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mailed to:

I can't tell you how this made me feel. The Trapp's are the most incredible people I have ever been around. The opening of The Main Stage, as hard and time consuming as it has been, has been the most inspiring thing I have ever done. There are so many talented people here. I see all the possibilities with these kids and it is so exciting for me. I see a little bit of me in each of them. Music was a life saver for me and the very thought of giving that to another child is overwhelming......as is the very thought of this wonderful family helping us do this and show me that great, passionate loving people, who want nothing in return, still exist in this world. Let's make some music!!!
